I am a junior researcher at the Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB) and a PhD student at the University of Hamburg. I hold a double master's degree in sociology and demography from the University of Cologne (Germany) and the University of Groningen (The Netherlands), and a bachelor's degree in sociology and philosophy from the University of Tübingen (Germany). Before coming to the BiB, I was a student assistant at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne, the Institute for Sociology and the Institute for Applied Economic Research at the University of Tübingen.
I am an empirical-analytical sociologist working on the topics of spatial mobility, well-being and social inequality. My research focusses on couples, gender, and the intersection between individuals' socio-economic status and resources (such as income), and the subjective self-assessment of their own situation (expressed in subjective well-being). I am particularly interested in how individuals within couple households negotiate objective and subjective factors when deciding on a spatial mobility arrangement.
I am part of the research project “The Influence of Spatial Mobility on Quality of Life” (MobLife), which is funded by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG).
I am an Italian expat currently living in Karlsruhe, Germany. Also passionate about Italian / South Tyrolean cuisine, M.C. Escher, and Greek Mythology.
